Using essential oils is a fun, tasty and natural way to flavor your water while improving your health!
There is nothing more refreshing after a workout or nice long walk with my dogs than a glass of clear, cold, spring water except when it’s a glass of spring water with a few drops of pure therapeutic grade essential oils.
Water is not only refreshing, but it is essential to life. And most likely, you’re not drinking as much water as you should, right? Common, be honest! I know I wasn’t until I started to flavor my water, naturally!
Water is so extremely important because life cannot exist without it. Water is the activator for all body functions, as well as for growth, development, strength, and vitality. The only substance that is more important to the body is oxygen. And guess what? Because essential oils have the highest amount of oxygenating molecules known to man, when you flavor your water with essential oils, you’re oxygenating your body too!
The human body is over 70 percent water while vital organs and systems have higher concentrations: the brain is over 75 percent, the blood over 80 percent, and the liver is actually made up of 96 percent water.
Without water, which is crucial for our body’s self-cleaning system, our bodies would not be able to flush out all the toxins through the body’s normal elimination process. And our kidneys cannot cleanse efficiently if our system does not have enough water to remove the waste.
you should be consuming half your body weight in ounces per day. That
means that if you weigh 150 pounds, you should be drinking at least 75
ounces of water, or close to 8-ounce glasses per day.
However, it is extremely important you you are drinking pure water. Bottled water is not pure water and then you've got the dangers of the BPA in the plastic to add insult to injury. I highly recommend that have good Water Filters for your home, reverse osmosis for the entire house if you can. And just a side note, if you like taking hot showers and/or baths, please get yourself a shower head/bathtub filter to remove the chlorine. The dangers of and side effects list of chlorine just continues to grow.
There is so much I could say about the need for and benefits of drinking pure water, but let’s get to the fun stuff… flavoring your water with essential oils!
I actually can't even drink plain old boring water anymore. I guess you can say I'm a bit spoiled. I have so many oils I enjoy flavoring my water with, but experiment and come up with your own. Mixing oils is always fun too. Like peppermint and lemon make a great combo as does peppermint and clove. And if you'd like to sweeten it up a bit, at just a touch of agave or stevia and enjoy!
Here are a few of my favorite essential oils that I flavor my water with on a daily basis:
LEMON: Purifies water, stimulates immune system (increases white blood cells), improves memory, induces relaxation, and reduces depression. Rich in limonene.
PEPPERMINT: Anti-inflammatory, digestive aid, and gallbladder stimulant. Anti- tumoral, anti-parasitic, curbs appetite and pain reliever. (1 drop of Peppermint = 24 cups peppermint tea...best to use toothpick technique to adjust strength of flavor).
ORANGE: Boosts immunity, induces relaxation, and reduces depression. Helps with hypertension, fluid retention, and wrinkles. Rich in limonene.
GRAPEFRUIT: Refreshing and uplifting to the mood. Boosts immunity, induce relaxation, reduce depression. Can help with weight loss, depression, anxiety, cellulite, Alzheimer’s, fluid retention, anxiety, and liver disorders. Rich in limonene.
SPEARMINT: Regulates metabolism, anti-inflammatory, digestive aid, and gallbladder stimulant.
TANGERINE: Promotes happiness. Can help with obesity, irritability, liver problems and is antitumoral. Rich in limonene.
